The ELDR is the European party to which the UK Liberal Democrats belong.
ELDR is the third largest force within the European Parliament, and has the support of parties in Europe both inside and outside the EU.
The President of the European Parliament, Pat Cox is a member of ELDR.
The Liberal Democrats in the UK are the strongest third force in British politics since 1929 with 53 MPs and 11 MEPs.

The Lib Dems in the
East
of England
In the East of England, the Liberal Democrats currently have two MPs, Colchester, Bob Russell and North Norfolk, Norman Lamb and of course one MEP, Andrew Duff.
In Councils throughout the region, Liberal Democrats are in control or positions of influence. We are in majority control of Brentwood, Cambridge, East Cambridgeshire, South Norfolk and Three Rivers councils.

Andrew's
work
in the European Parliament since 1999
Andrew is Vice-President of the European Parliament delegation to the Constitutional Convention on the Future of Europe.
Andrew drafted the Charter of Fundamental Rights which has strengthened the rights of all the citizens of the European Union.
Andrew is working for improved links between the EU and Turkey, to encourage improvements in Turkey's human rights record and to enhance its democracy.
