* Lib Dems Offer Lifeline for Postal Services. Lib Dems in the Euro-Parliament have voted to allow the Government to offer support to local post offices to remain open. Previously the Government has said that European rules prevent it from helping small local post offices. Local Euro-MP/local campaigner XY said "Local post offices play a vital role at the heart of their communities. The Government’s proposals could see many hundreds of them close, and are blaming European rules. This is nonsense – now they will be unable to hide behind this smokescreen."
