* The European Parliament has called for developing countries in the third world to be able to buy desperately-needed medicines at prices they can afford. At present many poor countries are unable to buy medicines for millions of people suffering from disease, including AIDS and tuberculosis, because they simply can’t afford the high prices charged by western pharmaceutical companies. Local Lib Dem campaigner XY said "Millions of people in developing countries are dying because drugs companies in rich western countries refuse to make medicines available. We need to do everything we can to work together to make them available where they are so desperately needed."
