Anti-Europeans

88. Business for Sterling is not anti-European.The words of its Chairman, Rodney Leach, show that this is untrue. He has said: "Europe is becoming a liability. The sole disadvantage to Britain of withdrawing from the EC would be non-tariff barriers. For the moment we have no choice but to argue for deregulation and a stop to the federal bandwagon. But the time has come to prepare for the prospect of losing that argument. If we do, far from being an occasion for regret, it should inaugurate an era of renewed self-respect and unprecedented prosperity."

89. The Bruges Group is not anti-European. This is untrue. The Bruges Group website clearly states: "The Bruges Group advocates withdrawal from the EU in the event that renegotiation [of the treaties] is unobtainable."

90. New Europe is not anti-European. This is untrue. The anti-European agenda of New Europe was exposed by its recent alliance with the anti-European Business for Sterling, at least 20 of whose Council are associated with anti-EU organisations such as the Bruges Group.
